Barrels Each year after the first fermentations have finished the wine is transferred from the stainless steel tanks to the barrels in the undergound cellars. Barrels are sourced from six different barrel producers and great care is taken to select the best and match them to the individual wines. One third new and two thirds one and two year old barrels are used with 90% French oak and 10 % American oak. Grapes Six grape varieties are grown at Vignelaure : Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Grenache, Merlot, Cinsault and Carignan. The Cabernet Sauvignon was one of the first significant plantations in Provence and originated from Chateau La Lagune. The other varieties are plantations of ages varying between those planted in the past few years and those which are over 80 years old.
